Violet - Live In Tallinn Violet is the current moniker for solo works by Jeff Surak, who has played in such projects as v., Normal Music, Critikal, Second Violin, -1348-, and New Carrollton and a multitude of collaborations. This album was recorded live in Tallinn, Estonia during his Summer 2005 tour of eastern Europe with Francisco Lopez and Michael Gendreau. Organic irrational compositions, using electro-acoustic instruments and tape/cd/vinyl manipulations.

In the spring of 2005 Violet and Rinus played at Sonntags Abstrakt in Graz. Violet played a great set of e-bow drones and crazy electro-acoustic instruments built by a friend of his. Rinus used objects he found here in Graz (he traveled with a walkman and a mic). Unfortunately the recordings of that show were totally fucked up. So we decided to present a concert by Violet in Tallinn, Estonia and Rinus composed a work of field recordings taken in many different places around Europe.

This 2-cd set comes in a DVD-box designed by Nikos Zachariadis.

Zwei experimentalisten in einem machwerk. Zu haben natürlich bei nocords. Violet a.k.a. Jeff Surak bringt sein elektronisches equipment zum zittern und manipuliert alles was in der tonträgerbranche rang und namen hat: tape, cd und vinyl. Massig viel surren und schleifen. Ein nachmittag beim zahnarzt könnte kaum bereichernder sein. Mit seinen soundexperimenten ist Rinus van Alebeek kaum zimperlicher, beweist aber mit titel wie "Die festliche Eröffnung des staatlichen Flohzirkus" sicher humor.
